Following the issue of a revisions document for BS9991 the following key parts have been highlighted which may have an impact in some of your appreciations for site support.
My future FRA works will need to qualify some or all of these depending on site specific requirements.
Please feel free to distribute this internally or externally if it will increase awareness of these issues.
- Care Homes are to be given a more through review of all internal and external issues – this extends to supported living sites.
- Timber framed new structures are to be more detailed in terms of provision and extent for apprecations of fire spread.
- Fire Door certification will extend to EU approvals albeit there is not a current date for its delivery as at this time.
- Better appreciations for AOV which should all be IFC/SCA certified and are not acceptable under SP203-1 and a modification certificate.
- Lift provision to accommodate issues for disability planning and firefighters support.
- Commercial Kitchens and their wider use including canopy protection under LPS 1223, enhanced emergency lighting and sounder/strobe units.
- EWS work with specific to site requirements and accreditations which are outside of a BAFE SP205 accreditation.
As before I remain at your disposal for FRA support and guidance so please feel free to reach out when required.
