As employers start to gauge a date for a potential return to work for their staff and a build up towards all that goes with that it is essential after many months of hibernation in the work place to ensure that when staff return there has been some plan to refresh their understanding and appreciation of what your fire strategy planning is so that in the event of an emergency you and they know what to do.
Review and where necessary update your Fire Risk Assessment (FRA), look at what may have changed in the period since last occupancy and ensure that all of your fire and life safety planning is up to date.
Potentially bring forward the scheduled testing for your system(s) to evaluate what might need to be done.
When your staff are back, run a fire drill, do an acoustic test and look at your planning and infrastructure.
The last 12 months have been unprecedented and the next 6 will probably follow a similar path however we must not allow these periods of inactivity to lead to deficiencies in your planning and process for fire and life safety.
