Following the take-over of your fire alarm system by a new incumbent contractor they are obliged under BS 5839 Part 1 2017 to undertake a fully comprehensive take over test, known within the standards as a “special service”. This is to be separately to the mandatory service provision – either bi-annual or quarterly and is the only chance you have for the new contractor to advise you of any and all identified non-compliance issues. These you may not have been told of by the previous service partner.
Veritas can provide support for this with a comprehensive dilapidation report to ensure that what you may be told is both correct and comprehensive and thus allow some reference to the new report to ensure that you have all the information required to make an informed decision. This is most relevant now that uninstructed non compliance issues are now a mandatory disclosure to your commercial insurance provider.
