Changes to BS 7671 – 18th edition for fire alarm installations

With the introduction of the new requirements of BS 7671 getting ever closer how many fire and life safety projects that are currently under way but will not be commissioned until after the holiday where zip ties and other non-fire retardant fixings are being used, these will constitute a non-compliance and as such require qualification to the client thus disclosure by them to their insurance provider, if the design specification has clearly identified that the fixings and cable management must meet the new expectations of 7671 then any deviation from this should be flagged at commissioning and detailed under the installation certificate.
